today is my 2nd morning shift at KKH ward 56. and ive enjoyed the morning shift because there is a lot of things that can be done in the morning. the kids got up bright n early for a bath and for breakfast.

on my 3rd day at KKH, i was still doing my afternoon shift. as the previous 2 days, it was pretty much boring lah. nothing much to do except for the taking of vital signs and i/o charts. on the third day, the baby from my cubicle was discharged and i was pretty attached to him. on the same day, another 9 yr old boy was admitted. this time it was a malay boy from a special school. he came in with his teacher and the teacher was so nice.

on my 4th day, i was doing my 1st morning shift. its such a drag to get up early in the morning to get to work. but luckily, my mum was nice to send me all the way to KKH. my first morning shift was really nice. because i help the kids to the toilet to take a bath. now, the 2 boys were acquaintances and were very naughty. they would jump out of bed and run ard the ward. one of my patient was discharged. he was a 3 yr old kid and was so adorable. i jus got to know him and he had to be discharged but im glad that he is okay. an indian baby was admitted and his parents were so arrogant. they didnt want any medical students to come near the baby(which includes us). whats worst, they put up a sign on the baby cods.

as for today, my partner switched shift to afternoon shift and i had to be alone in my cubicle. unfortunately, today i had to do 2 hourly temp, PR, RR, SPO2 for a few patients. luckily the EN was nice to help me out and told me exactly what to do. the night before, 2 more patients were admitted. one was a malay 6 mths old baby and another is chinese 3 mths old baby. the malay baby had a long name and all the staff nurses were talking abt it. haha. as for the chinese baby, the grandma keep calling for a nurse to attend to her baby. the problem was she only speak mandarin. i couldnt understand a word she was saying. so i had to get someone to translate them.

time flies fast and it was already noon. by the time, i was already playing with the babies. one more patient was admitted. i wanted to do the admission but i didnt know how. further more, the parents wanted staff nurses to handle thier baby. so we jus took her vital signs and record it. i passed report to the afternoon shift student nurses and signed out.

It was nice to meet fee at KKH. she is doing her obs posting at KKH and i met her a couple of times during break. Its already been a week that im at paeds ward. another week to go at paeds and the week after at obs. den continuation of 3 wks at surgical at NUH. jia you!
